Process of Lecithin Powder Plant :
Carbon Treatment & Pre-bleaching Section
The liquid Soya Lecithin is pre-treated with carbon to reduce the PAH and bleached with hydrogen per oxide in order to lower down the peroxide number and microbial count and improve the color of crude dried Soya Lecithin. This helps in improving the subsequent extraction process.
Hexane Extraction and Miscella Distillation
The pretreated and pre bleached dried liquid Soya lecithin is extracted in CONTINUOUS extractors to remove the hexane insoluble. The dried liquid lecithin is mixed with hexane and continue the extraction and the extract is filtered through the specially designed Miscella filter to remove the hexane insoluble impurities. The filtered lecithin miscella is distilled in the second extractor cum evaporator for removal of the hexane from the lecithin, the hexane vapour will be condensed
Acetone Extraction Process Description
The entire extraction process of crude dried Gums (Soya lecithin) is carried out using acetone as solvent.
After pre- treatment, the lecithin is extracted in five stages with precipitation of acetone insoluble i.e. lecithin. In the process, a unique designed extractor is used to ensure a rapid and efficient extraction. The Miscella, after extraction is withdrawn into a Miscella tank and then the thick solid slurry is transferred to a decanter feed tank. The acetone is recovered from the Miscella in the acetone recovery system for further reuse. The Soya oil left out after acetone recovery can be mixed with degummed Soya oil.
In the decanter feed tank, the thick solid slurry is decanted in a high speed centrifuge/Decanter, filtering out the acetone and the solids. The separated solids are carried for drying and on the other side; the separated acetone goes to the Miscella tank. The wet concentrated Soya lecithin is dried in a specially designed closed loop CONTINUOUS conical rotary dryer with scrapper to facilitate the easy removal of Acetone solvent. The Deoiled concentrated Soya lecithin powder generated from the drying system is micronized, sieved and packed.
After extraction, the miscella generated undergoes through a three stage acetone recovery system in which there is only a little loss of the acetone. The acetone recovered from the plant is then condensed and further recycled for extraction process. The residue Soya oil that is left out can be sold off.
